Bayern Munich general manager Christian Nerlinger has admitted that his team are no longer in control of their own destiny after Saturday's goalless draw with Freiburg in the Bundesliga

Christian Nerlinger admits Bundesliga title 'is no longer in Bayern Munich's hands' following Freiburg draw

The former midfielder conceded the Bavarians will have to hope their rivals drop points going into the business end of the season, but was disappointed by his side's lack of hunger.

Bayern Munich general manager Christian Nerlinger has confessed his team are no longer in control of their own destiny after Saturday's 0-0 draw with Freiburg in the Bundesliga.

The German giants laboured to a stalemate against the strugglers, and despite his insistence that the title remains a feasible target for the rest of the campaign, the 38-year-old admits they must now live in the hope that their league rivals give them a helping hand.

"Of course, the championship is not lost, but it is no longer in our hands," claimed Nerlinger after the match.

Nerlinger also expressed his frustration at the performances of some players, whom he chose to not name, claiming they were oblivious to the importance of the fixture in Freiburg and did not give their all to the Bayern cause.

"This match was a big mystery to me - especially the first half, it made me very pensive," mused Nerlinger. "It seemed as if some of our players have not understood what is at stake.

"There were basic team elements such as aggression, a positive attitude and a willingness to win which were missing."

Bayern Munich have fallen to third in the Bundesliga standings, and are now four points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund.
