Galatasaray taught us how to fix matches, claims former Besiktas director Celal Kolot The ex-club official has sparked fresh controversy after using a television channel to filter through his belief that Fatih Terim's side brought corruption to the Turkish game. Former Besiktas director Celal Kolot has insinuated that Galatasaray are the guilty party who introduced the concept of fixing football matches to Turkey. The Super Lig leaders have avoided the wrath of the TFF to date yet Kolot, previously on the board of The Black Eagles, used live television to platform his belief that it is their Istanbul rivals who should be blamed for the saga that has crippled the country's footballing integrity.  "Galatasaray have been champions for many years, but they have taught us how to handicap [football matches]," exclaimed the one-time director to TV8. The scandal initially broke in the summer of 2011, and investigations had seemed to be on the right track after 93 arrests were made, including the detainment of Fenerbahce chairman Aziz Yildirim, along with 19 top-flight fixtures being probed by authorities. However, the abolition of relegation as a means of punishment for any club found guilty of influencing results, as well as the resignation of several TFF chiefs including president Mehmet Ali Aydinlar, and the threat of European expulsion have since thrown the case into disrepute. Both sides meet in a top-of-the-table tussle on February 25, with Gala currently nine points clear of third-placed Besiktas at the Super Lig summit.
