Allegri admits defeat in Tevez bid

AC Milan's Massimiliano Allegri: There is no hope of signing Carlos Tevez

Club CEO Adriano Galliani left the door ever so slightly ajar with comments made after Sunday's win over Cagliari but the Rossoneri boss insists that the deal is dead

The AC Milan coach has lost all hope over a deadline-day deal to bring the Manchester City misfit to the Serie A champions and believes that the move is basically dead in the water

The Rossoneri have been pursuing the Argentina international on and off for the best part of a month, but the move appeared dead after the club signed Maxi Lopez from Catania on Friday.

Milan CEO Adriano Galliani then left the door ever so slightly ajar with comments made after Sunday's win over Cagliari but Allegri has now insisted that the Tevez deal is dead.
"I have no hope of Tevez arriving before end of transfer window," the Rossoneri boss told reporters during a press conference on the eve of his side's clash with Lazio.

Allegri did hint, however, that out-of-favour striker Filippo Inzaghi is currently weighing up offers from elsewhere and could depart before the close of business on Tuesday night.

"Inzaghi is free to decide whether he wants to leave or stay," the former Cagliari coach said.

Inzaghi is a fan favourite at San Siro, having scored 72 goals in 199 Serie A games since joining from Juventus in 2001.

However, the veteran striker, who has been linked with Lazio in recent days, has been afforded just four appearances by Allegri in the league so far this season.
