Dani Alves urges Barcelona to finish the job at Camp Nou against Bayer Leverkusen

The Brazil international has voiced his satisfaction with Tuesday evening's win over Leverkusen, but is determined not to get complacent for the second-leg clash

Barcelona right-back Dani Alves has expressed his delight with his side's 3-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen at the BayArena in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie.

Alexis Sanchez gave Barcelona a 1-0 lead at half-time, before Michal Kadlec restored parity in the second half. Nevertheless, Sanchez and Lionel Messi restore the Catalans' advantage to secure a comfortable away win, and Dani Alves is determined to seal qualification in the second leg.

"I think we have an important advantage but we must finish our work at Camp Nou," Dani Alves was quoted as saying on the official Barcelona website.

"Winning always helps, it gives you encouragement and spirit. A good quality that we have is that we accept things as they come. We adjusted phenomenally from one competition to another and we’ll fight until the end."

The wing-back then reflected on his assist for Messi to make it 3-1, and stressed that he never even considered going for his own chances.

"I wasn’t too preoccupied with shooting, I simply decided to assist Messi. He had made an important play previously, and I wanted him to score. We’re all happy."

The second leg takes place at Camp Nou on March 7.
